Wow, I have really slacked off. I am just not good at this updated on time thing. Anyway, the Joyner house is just as busy and hectic as always even though there is no sports right now.
McKenzie is still a typical teenager. Some days she is the funnest most beautiful girl and the world and the next day I think the devil truly took over her body. Her conferences went great. I am so proud of her for working so hard and pushing herself. She has big dreams and I can only hope that she full fills each one. She passed hunters safety so she is hunting for the first time this year. We went turkey hunting the other day but didn't see anything. Secretly I have to admit that it scares the crap out of me to see her with a gun. She is just growing up so fast. She did however learn a valuable lesson about a Mother's need to protect their young. After not seeing any turkeys we decided to let the kids target shoot. We had borrowed a gun from a friend to see if it would be a good fit for the kids. Kezie got right up there and pulled the gun. The Mom in me took over and told her to back up from the scope and make sure that she had the gun in her shoulder. I could see what was coming from a mile away. She on the other hand proceeded to tell me how she already knew everything and I was just making her nervous. JJ told me to just let him take over. Which at first I was a little angry but understood. She lined right up and fired and boom. That gun came back and whacked her right in the face. She had a nice big goose egg on her head. I know it's bad, but it was a proud Mom moment. I tried to get some pictures but they didn't turn out. Needless to say, lesson learned.
Tannon is always just relaxed and light hearted. However, he is becoming quite the little smart alec. He gets up the other morning and says to me "You know, when I get in high school I think that I am going to start sleeping naked". I turned around and looked at him and said "WHAT". He just started laughing and said that he just said that to see the look on my face. The little brat. He thinks he is so funny. The highlight of his days are watching River Monsters and playing army. His conference was great. He came up two reading levels this year so that was hard work paid off. It's not that he can't read, it's that it takes too much time out of his busy day. He wants to do what he wants when he wants. Don't we all.
JJ and I are great. We have been working around our house for my Sister's wedding. Well, JJ has been doing most of the outside work. I am so looking forward to getting some warmer weather and planting flowers. The wedding details are panning out and everything is on track. Between wedding, turkey hunting, bear hunting and the kids we will be busy.
Ok, so as far as me, I'll admit it, even though I don't want to, I became obsessed with the Royal Wedding. I know, I know, pathetic hu. But I just could not help it. I was not interested until the day before and I became so fascinated with it. In my best efforts to hold off, I recorded it and when I got up on Friday, I was hooked. I watched it before I left for work. Watched it on the computer, watched it again when I got home, then watched documentaries on it for the rest of the weekend. I could not help it. It was mesmerizing. She was absolutely beautiful. I have never been one of those girls who wanted the fairy tail wedding and I still don't. But there was something so romantic about it. So there you have it, I am crazy like everyone else.
