So excited that I finally got my car back today...... It's the small things in life that seem to make my life worth living. Let me back up. Last Sunday I got up in the morning, the sun was shining, I slept in until 7:30 and got ready to pick up
Kenzie from her Dad's. I could not wait to just drive and listen to my music and enjoy the day. I left my house at around 9:30 and headed right for my favorite place, Starbucks. Got my
vente green tea and put some gas in my car and I was ready to make my way to
Biggs. Now most people really dislike the drive to
Biggs but I happen to love it. I get to drive through Madras which is not the best part of the drive for sure. But when I get to
Willowdale it feels like I am home again. I drive by the place where I grew up and just relive all the memories. I always want to stop by my Grandparents old house and walk through but I never do. Anyway, as I make my way through
Shaniko it turns into some of the best views I have ever seen. There are miles and miles of rolling hills and open country. And NO trees. I love it. As I get closer to
Biggs I can see the windmills. As I found out on a trip with some friends they are huge. I am
fascinated with them. Back to my story, anyway, I get to
Biggs and get a call from
Kenzie that they are running about 30 min late so I decide to go into the gas station and use the bathroom, get a drink and get a snack. I come back to my car and people watch. Let me tell you, there are many kinds of people that pass through the a truck stop. So
Kenzie gets there and I start my car to head home thinking that it is going to be such a nice ride home with her. Then it happens, the end of my wonderful day. My power steering light comes on and won't go off. I pull my car forward and then turn my car off thinking that it will reset and I can head home. Nope. So I drive across the way to the next gas station while all the time trying to use the most of my sad muscles to turn my steering wheel to see if I can get the light to go off and get my steering back. Again, no. So I open my hood, which I was really lucky that I hit the right levers. (As you can see, I know nothing about cars nor do I want to) So I find the fluid and all looks good. Time to call the dealer. They say that I really should have it towed so that I don't ruin anything even more. Great. So
Kenzie and I sat at Linda's truck stop until 4:30 waiting for a ride home. We people watched, which again was good entertainment. We played tic-
tac-toe and hangman. Ate some lunch. Watched our car being towed away until finally we were on our way home. So my perfect day turned into an utter disaster. Looking back though it really was fun to spend the day with
Kenzie being stranded at a truck stop. I think she learned a lot.
